The cast iron ring underneath the bottom of the chair has a portion cracked off but this does not affect the mechanism or movement in any way

wax models are no longer used and this is most particularly the case for wax anatomical models which used to be the pride of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century natural history cabinets and medical museums

The black metal focus wheel works well and the optics are in good working order
