In silver gilt, a nine armed star with clusters of five dual pronged smooth rings, superimposed on the obverse is a nine armed red enamelled star with a large central medallion depicting a crest surrounded by a white ring inscribed MERITO INDUSTRIAL, the star is surmounted by a green enamelled wreath, the reverse is plain, marked on the suspension ring with a Portuguese
