There is not a whole lot out there about Renate Scheer Kalkofen (1935-2013) who created this gorgeous "In Outer Space" print in 1966

I believe the figures are carved of wood and glued inside

It's almost as if she was anticipating the digital age, dividing the cat into pixels, though seems more likely she might first have taken a stab at it using graph paper, and then recreated it free hand much better with the squares getting a little wonky here and there.
