Original U.S. Spanish-American War Era Scare Non-Regulation Model 1895 Officer’s Cap Constructed of Straw With Illinois State Officer’s Buttons U.S. Equipment On 8 October 1943Original Item: Only One Available. Now this is a rare cap! This cap is a Model 1895 Officers Cap that was constructed entirely out of straw. Darker color straw was added to the circumference of the cap to signify that it was an officer used item. The buttons on the side are the standard State of Illinois Staff Officer buttons, used to secure the twisted cotton chin strap. A total of seven infantry regiments and one artillery battery from Illinois
