This is a lovely example of a pull lanyard as used for artillery pieces during the Civil War. The wood turned handle, hemp rope and hook are all in fantastic condition, surprising for the age! The length of the rope is rather short, meaning this was used on the much smaller types of artillery pieces, possibly for the small signal cannons. The wood handle measures 4in length with a 1 width that gradually narrows to
